For reference there is a story which says once mata Sita was putting sindoor on her forhead when lord hanuman asked “mata why are you putting sindoor on forehead to which goddess and mata Sita replied for the well being of her husband Lord Shree Ram , hearing since then started ton put sindoor on hi s whole body denoting the well being of loved once since lord hanumaan puts sindoor on body hence it became a sm ol of positivity and positive mindset

Science Behind Sindoor
Sindoor or Vermillion/kumkum , a composition of Mercury, Lead &oxygen. Now science believes that it has the compostion of cinnabar (a mercury ore, chemically represented by hgs) acompanied with the mix of turmeric and lime juice sometimes Ghee and slaked lime too , sometimes its other components are ghee and slaked lime too, some sindoors have red sandal powder and kesar. Now ccordinf to both Ayurveda and modern age science
